Hooks, line & stored energy

Wear impact-rated eye protection when casting, handling loaded tackle or freeing a snag. Use suitable hand protection for the handling task; gloves do not make it safe to wrap fishing line around a hand or body.

Before each cast, check behind, above, ahead and around you. Keep people and animals outside the casting and potential recoil path, and keep clear of vehicles, windows, power lines and other obstructions. Control exposed hooks while baiting, landing fish, handling tackle, transporting and storing the rod. Use appropriate hook guards where practical.

A bent rod, stretched line or snagged lure stores energy and may release suddenly. Never pull a snag toward your face or another person. Never wrap line around your hand or body, jerk a snag free, or use the rod as a lever. Keep others away and keep yourself out of the recoil path. Reduce rod bending and line tension where safely possible; use an appropriate controlled release or cutting method. Do not reach into loaded hooks or tensioned tackle to free them.

Stay within the released lure, line, drag, pull and rod-angle limits; do not treat these instructions as a numerical rating. Never lift or swing a fish with the rod. Use a suitable landing net or other appropriate landing equipment.

After a strike, unusual sound, overload, cracking, looseness, exposed fibers or other suspected damage, stop use and follow STR-07 inspection and company-disposition instructions. Do not proof-load a suspect rod. Do not rely on app alerts to determine whether loaded tackle or the surroundings are safe.

These instructions supplement the complete Safety, Setup & Care Guide and product labels. They do not establish load ratings or authorize product release.
