Excelscion Analytics LLC

Privacy Policy

Excelscion Analytics LLC, doing business as Excelscion (“Excelscion,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information through the Excelscion SmartStick website, companion mobile application, connected devices, pilot reservation process, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

Information we collect

When you join early access, we collect your name, email address, stated use case, referral code, and referral relationship. When you use the pilot reservation process, we may also collect shipping address, phone number, payment status, and reservation details. Card details are collected by Stripe; we do not store full payment-card numbers on our servers.

When you use the companion app or a connected SmartStick, we may collect account and support information; device identifiers, model, firmware, app version, diagnostics, and connection data; app interactions and feature usage; fishing activity and observations you enter or generate through use of the device; and, only when you enable the relevant permission or feature, location-related information from your mobile device. We also automatically collect limited technical information, such as IP address, browser or device type, operating system, timestamps, and security logs. The specific information collected depends on the features you use and permissions you grant.

How we use information

We use information to manage the waitlist, confirm email addresses, administer referrals and pilot selection, send reservation and service communications, process payments, prepare and ship orders, provide and support the companion app and device, troubleshoot and secure the Services, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with legal obligations, and improve the SmartStick offering.

Optional research and analytics consent

With your affirmative, separate consent in the companion app, we may use fishing activity, device-derived observations, and location or environmental context that you choose to share to create de-identified and aggregated datasets and analytical outputs. We use these datasets to identify broad patterns and make inferences about fishing activity and environmental conditions, such as trends by general area, time, season, species, or conditions. We use those insights to improve our products and may share or publish aggregated, de-identified findings with researchers, conservation organizations, commercial partners, or the public.

This consent is optional and is not required to use the core companion app or device. We will present it separately from these documents, explain the categories of information involved, and request any required operating-system permissions at the time of collection. You may withdraw consent at any time in the app’s privacy settings or by contacting support@excelscion.com. Withdrawal applies prospectively; it will stop future collection and use for this purpose, but does not require us to remove information that has already been aggregated or de-identified such that it cannot reasonably be linked back to you.

Service providers

We use Firebase and Google Cloud to operate the website, companion app, and store operational records; Stripe to process payments; Resend to send transactional email; and Cloudflare Turnstile to help prevent automated form abuse. We may also use hosting, analytics, customer-support, and fulfillment providers. These providers process information on our behalf as needed to provide their services and subject to contractual or legal safeguards where applicable.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information with service providers, shipping or fulfillment partners when needed to deliver an order, with parties you direct us to share with, and when required by law or necessary to protect our rights, customers, or services. As described above, if you opt in, we may share or publish aggregated, de-identified insights. We do not attempt to re-identify those aggregated datasets except as permitted by law.

Retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including providing the Services, accounting, fulfillment, dispute-resolution, security, and legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure.

Your choices

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information, or withdraw optional analytics consent, by emailing support@excelscion.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain certain information for legal, payment, fraud-prevention, security, or transaction-record purposes. Marketing communications, if any, will provide an unsubscribe option.

U.S. state privacy rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have rights to know or access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy of, or opt out of certain processing of their personal information, subject to applicable law and exceptions. California residents may also have rights to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information and not to be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights. Submit a request at support@excelscion.com. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision and stating that you are appealing. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Children and international users

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps. We are based in the United States, and information may be processed in the United States and other places where our service providers operate.
